•The Santa Chiara Basilica was built in 1257 in the centre of Assisi, in Italian gothic style. The very simple facade was built in white and pink stone, and assembled with horizontal lines. The upper triangular part has a circular opening. The interior has a single nave, in gothic style with cross vaults. From a door to the right of the nave it is possible to reach the Chapel of the Crucifixion, where the Crucifix (from the XII century) that spoke to Saint Francis is conserved. Below the nave is the room of the sacred remains and the crypt, built between 1850 and 1872 where Santa Chiara rests. For those arriving by car, it is possible to park, in Via Borgo Aretino, 50 meters from the secondary entrance, where there is a parking space reserved for disabled people; there is not enough room on the driver side for a person with a wheelchair. It is possible to park next to the entrance with a permit for disabled people. There are 6 steps at the main entrance, the secondary entrance situated on the side of the Church, was surveyed (it may be necessary to ask the caretaker to open it). There is a short brick ramp 190 cm long with an 8% slope, the entrance door is 85 cm wide and has an internal step 7 cm high. The interior, where the central nave and the Chapel of the Crucifixion is located, is level. There is a stairway with 27 steps to reach the rooms with the sacred remains and another with 8 steps to reach the crypt (the pathway is indicated with direction signs and there is a handrail on the right side of the stairway). There are no restrooms in the structure. The main entrance has six steps and is unaccessible to people on wheelchair. It is possible to enter the Basilica from the lateral secundary entrance. Ask the door-keepers to open the door for you. This entrance has a stone ramp 198 cm long and a 8% slope. It has a 85 cm doorway and a 7 cm internal step. Inside the basilica the central nave and the “Cappella del Crocifisso” are on ground floor and are accessible. The “Sala delle Reliquie” and the Crypt are unaccessible to wheelchairs because of two ramps of 27 and 8 steps with handrail. The Basilica has not a toilet.

•Built between 1257 and 1265, the Basilica of St. Claire is an example of Italian Gothic architecture. The facade is very simple and composed of lines of white-and-pink stones and of a triangle with a circular aperture in the upper part.. In the interior the basilica has an undivided nave in gothic style, with cruised archs. A lateral doorway leads to the Crucifix Chapel where is the famous crucifix (XII century) which spoke to St. Francis. In the lower part of the curch there is the “Sala delle Reliquie” and the crypt ( built between 1850 and 1872) where St. Claire's body is preserved.
